Door Builder/Assembler – Dayville

Pay: $19.50 – $21.50 per hour (Full Time)

Job description:

We are looking for a Door Builder / Assembler to join our interior door manufacturing division. Our “interior” shop specializes in hanging interior doors, fabrication of custom frames, prefabricated interior trim packages, along with many other related products for commercial, and residential uses.

Essential Functions:

  • Measure, cut, and prepare materials according to specifications.
  • Operate door hanging equipment and other wood shop tools.
  • Assemble and build interior doors and related subcomponents.
  • Assembling and preparing interior doors for shipment.
  • Set up machinery to the specifications of each job.
  • Coordinate work with shop foreman and project managers.
  • Maintain high quality standards and attention to detail.
  • Gather and/or fabricate material needed to perform assembly tasks.
  • Assist in shop cleaning upon completion of the day’s work.
  • Perform maintenance and basic repairs to equipment.
  • Superior time management skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with a variety of woodworking tools, including table saws, miter saws, routers, jointers, and pneumatic tools.
  • High-quality workmanship with attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders specific to each project.
  • Willingness to learn
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and project managers.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy items (60-125 pounds) and work in varying conditions
  • Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on, paid work experience in a wood shop or similar manufacturing environment (not including school or classroom-based training).
  • Forklift experience

  • Previous carpentry experience, particularly in finish carpentry, door installation, or millwork environments

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Hand and power tool experience with a variety of wood working tools is a must
  • Ability to use a tape measure with accuracy within 1/32”

  • Prior finish carpentry experience or assembly of finished wood products

Physical Demands:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate custom architectural millwork accurately and efficiently from shop drawings, construction plans, templates, and field information.
  • Set up and safely operate professional woodworking machinery and hand/power tools.
  • Build doors, trim, moldings, curved and specialty components, architectural details, and custom assemblies.
  • Measure, lay out, cut, machine, assemble, and prepare work for finishing or installation.
  • Inspect your own work and correct issues before the job leaves the shop.
  • Work independently on assigned projects while keeping the shop manager informed of progress, material needs, and potential problems.
  • Work with the shop manager and project team to resolve field conditions, drawing conflicts, material issues, and fabrication challenges.
  • Assist with field measurements, templating, deliveries, or installation support when the project requires it.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area and help protect the condition of tools, machinery, and materials.

What We Are Looking For

  • Practical experience in custom woodworking, architectural millwork, finish carpentry, cabinetmaking, furniture making, or a related trade.
  • Strong craftsmanship and attention to detail. We are looking for someone who notices when something is not right and fixes it rather than passing the problem along.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, shop drawings, dimensions, details, and material specifications.
  • Good understanding of woodworking materials, joinery, fasteners, adhesives, hardware, and fabrication methods.
  • Ability to measure accurately and think in three dimensions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to figure out how to build something that is not completely spelled out.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize work, and maintain production pace without sacrificing quality.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This is a hands-on shop position requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and use of hands. Frequent lifting and handling of materials and finished components in the 25–50 lb range is expected, with heavier items handled using appropriate equipment or team lifting. The work environment includes woodworking machinery, power tools, dust, noise, forklifts, and other normal shop hazards. Required personal protective equipment will be provided. Occasional field work may involve variable weather conditions and active construction sites.

Experienced Field Service Technician – Connecticut

Job description:

We are looking for an Experienced Field Service Technician to join our team servicing premium windows and doors. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing window and door components while providing quality service to our customers. The technician will primarily service customers throughout Fairfield and Litchfield County, with occasional out-of-state travel.

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose window and door service issues.

  • Repair and replace hardware, sash, glass, screens, and weatherstrip.

  • Diagnose service issues and determine the appropriate repair or replacement.

  • Order parts and materials needed to complete service calls.

  • Complete service calls from diagnosis through final resolution.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, builders, contractors, and project managers.

  • Maintain accurate records of service work performed.
